Proctosedyl ointment is a translucent greasy ointment. Each gram of ointment contains two active ingredients, 5 mg of Cinchocaine hydrochloride and 5 mg of Hydrocortisone and other inactive ingredients. Cinchocaine hydrochloride is a local anaesthetic. It works by causing numbness in the area to which it has been applied. It inhibits feeling pain in that area and helps lessen the spasm of the back passage.
