Other common side effects reported using Effexor [Venlafaxine hydrochloride] medication are decreased sex drive, infections, flushing, gas, weight loss, abnormal dreams, high cholesterol, weight gain, agitation, confusion, unusual thoughts, increased urination and changes of tastes.
Some rare but serious side-effects include are confusion or other mental changes, rapid heart rate, hallucinations, changes of blood pressure, irregular heart rhythms, overactive reflexes, fever and sweating, seizures, coma, suicidal thoughts, hostility, panic attacks, engaging in unusual or dangerous activities, restlessness, frequent changes in extreme feelings, difficulty breathing, coughing or chest pain, heart palpitations, difficulty sleeping, allergic reactions like unexplained rash and swelling, hives, itching and wheezing.
Other rare side effects are chest pain, arrhythmias, swelling of tongue, mouth ulcers, hemorrhoids, muscle and bone pain, abnormal bleeding, anemia, liver problems, hypomania, decrease in blood sodium level, asthma, acne, sleep apnea, cataracts, enlarged prostate, seizures and hair loss.
